The objective of this research is to define the damage scenarios of the city of Florence, characterized by an exceptional architectural heritage, both in importance and in number, historically affected by moderate seismic activity. The recent Level III MS has allowed a satisfactory knowledge of the subsoil but the knowledge of the vulnerability of the building is still insufficient. The research analyzed the residential building stock to obtain a reliable assessment of the vulnerability and damage scenarios for a range of probable seismic events for the area. Starting from the creation of a specific database, investigation methodologies known in the literature were used and the recent knowledge of the subsoil was considered. Once the possible damage scenarios had been defined, the involved population was estimated in specific areas for the operation of the Emergency Limit Condition (ELC). An Obstruction Potential (OP) was calculated for the road infrastructure included in the rescue system due to damage to the building stock.
