The reading, both in terms of history and analogy, of the Gotthard Pass, is the inevitable starting point of Miller & Maranta’s design for the renovation of the Old St. Gotthard Hospice. The architects entrust the morphological redefinition, expressiveness and symbolic content of the Hospice to the design of the roof, pitched and with an atypical geometrical shape, thus generating a ramification of meanings that lead the architecture toward unexpected interpretations.
