Il percorso di questo libro nasce e si sviluppa ai margini del convegno internazionale “From Spaces to Places” tenutosi presso il dipartimento DIDA dell’Universit. di Firenze nel Maggio del 2021. Il libro raccoglie le riflessioni di ricercatori, designer, sociologi, musicisti, architetti e artisti sulla modalità attraverso le quali uno spazio diventa “luogo”; una piccola comunità di pensatori che indagano in maniera apparentemente disordinata e casuale i rapporti che intercorrono tra oggetti, spazi e persone nella dimensione urbana. I temi emersi durante il convegno, nei mesi che lo hanno seguito, sono diventati il materiale di riferimento per una ricerca inversa, uno scambio di idee e risultati che si conclude con l’uscita del libro ma che costituirà. la base per gli approfondimenti futuri. I contributi presentati al convegno sono stati dunque successivamente rielaborati, per questa pubblicazione e ad essi si sono aggiunti quelli dei ricercatori del Laboratorio Design degli Spazi di Relazione dell’Università di Firenze che opera, nella didattica e nella ricerca, nell’ambito delle connessioni tra persone, oggetti e luoghi, analizzando il ruolo degli oggetti e delle tecnologie nella comprensione, percezione e trasformazione degli spazi, attraverso gli strumenti e le pratiche del Design. The path of this book starts on the margins of the international conference "From Spaces to Places" held at the DIDA department of the University. in Florence in May 2021. The book connect the reflections of researchers, designers, sociologists, musicians, architects and artists on how a space becomes "place"; a small community of thinkers who investigate in an apparently disordered and random way the relationships between objects, spaces and people in the urban dimension. The themes that emerged during the conference, in the months that followed it, have become the reference material for an “inverse research”, an exchange of ideas and results that ends with the publication of the book but will constitute. the basis for future insights. The contributions presented at the conference were then reworked for this publication and to them were added those of the researchers of the Design Laboratory of the Spaces of Relation of the University of Florence that operates, in teaching and research, in the context of the connections between people, objects and places, analyzing the role of objects and technologies in the understanding, perception and transformation of spaces, through the tools and practices of Design discipline.
