Legitimacy and Legitimation of Political Authorities. Credibility and Trust in Political Institutions.

The book is a monograph on the topic of legitimacy and the related process of legitimation of the political authority in contemporary political system. Looking at the permanent decline of credibility and trust by the citizens toward the institutions in democratic regimes, the book is aimed at providing the reader : (i) a theoretical presentation of legitimacy and legitimation with regard the literature and the different fields of application across the social sciences, (ii) an analytical scheme for scrutinizing contemporary processes of legitimation.
