L'educazione Montessori oggi in Italia. Un’indagine sulla scuola primaria

In Italia le sezioni di scuola primaria Montessori sono per lo più pubbliche e, dal 2016 al 2021, il loro numero è più che raddoppiato. Oggi, a più di cent’anni dalla nascita di questo approccio educativo, sembra legittimo domandarsi: in che misura si riesce ancora a realizzare il modello Montessori? E con che variabilità tra scuola e scuola? Quali risultati scolastici e socio-affettivi registrano gli studenti Montessori al termine della primaria e durante la secondaria? La presente indagine dà una risposta a queste e ad altre domande, evidenziando l’esigenza di riformare il sistema educativo italiano per rendere possibile, nelle scuole Montessori e non solo, un’educazione che promuova davvero uno sviluppo dell’individuo libero e in armonia col mondo. In Italy, Montessori primary school sections are mostly public, and from 2016 to 2021, their number more than doubled. Today, over a hundred years since the inception of this educational approach, it seems legitimate to ask: to what extent is the Montessori model still being implemented? And with what variability between schools? What academic and socio-emotional outcomes do Montessori students achieve at the end of primary school and during secondary education? This study provides answers to these and other questions, highlighting the need to reform the Italian educational system to enable, in Montessori and non-Montessori schools alike, an education that truly promotes the development of the individual in harmony with the world.
