This PhD Thesis consists of six chapters and describes the development of innovative methodologies for the control of pressure pulsations in plants connected to reciprocating compressors. The aim of the thesis was to analyse the main engineering problems that arise in the design of gas treatment plants in which reciprocating compressors are installed. Specifically, the natural gas storage plant located in Italy at Cornegliano Laudense was analysed as case-study. The complexity of this plant in terms of wide range of operating conditions and multiple reciprocating compressors running in parallel has led to find innovative solutions which are currently being patented.
