Educare le élite nella Toscana granducale: spunti da un archivio scolastico di primo Ottocento

The paper investigates the education model of the elite in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.in the first half of the 19th century. The sources analyzed come from the State Archives of Florence, which houses the documents of the then Education Office, and from the archive of the former Collegio Forteguerri in Pistoia. The findings reveal a framework characterized by a lack of separation between primary and secondary education and the undisputed dominance of Latin studies, likely a consequence of the strong influence of the Jesuit model and the legacy of the Ancien Régime.
