The chapter explores the interdependent relationship between art and science, analyzing how these two disciplines have intertwined throughout history, from the Renaissance to the contemporary era. Taking inspiration from the thought of Tomás Maldonado, the chapter examines three main modes of intersection: Art as an object of scientific investigation, Art that uses scientific methods, Art that expresses itself through scientific discoveries. The chapter also introduces contemporary examples that combine aesthetics, science and technology to raise awareness of environmental issues. The text reflects on the need to train hybrid figures who can move between aesthetics and scientific knowledge, highlighting how contemporary design acts as a bridge between these two worlds.
