Since its foundation in 2017, the Italian Society for the Study of the Historical-Educational Heritage has promoted the valorisation and protection of educational heritage, integrating academic approaches and civil society involvement. This contribution explores historical-educational heritage as a key resource for the Public History of Education, focusing on experiences, good practices and new perspectives that emerged during the third SIPSE congress, held at the Catholic University of Milan (December 2023). The essays collected in the volume offer an interdisciplinary panorama ranging from theoretical analysis to educational design, emphasising the role of communication and participation in heritage valorisation processes. Key themes include the interaction between cultural and educational institutions, the pedagogical potential of historical-educational sources and the importance of engaging specific audiences to promote shared narratives and historical awareness. Particular attention is paid to the participatory approach, in line with the principles of the Faro Convention, which values cultural heritage as a resource for social cohesion. The volume reflects an evolving state of the art, combining advanced studies with experimental initiatives. It represents an invitation to continue in the direction of Public History, an approach capable of responding to contemporary challenges, connecting memory, identity and education.
