The thesis investigates the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters and protoclusters, with a particular emphasis on their multi-wavelength properties from X-ray to infrared observations. By studying the interactions between the intracluster medium, active galactic nuclei, and host galaxies, this work addresses relevant questions about cooling flows, AGN feedback mechanisms, and their impact on galaxy and cluster evolution across cosmic time. Key targets of this research include high-redshift structures like the Spiderweb protocluster, BOSS overdensities, and the galaxy cluster XDCPJ0044.0-2033, as well as the low-redshift cool-core cluster Abell 2667. The thesis provides new insights into the physical processes governing galaxy clusters and protoclusters, contributing to our understanding of their role in the evolution of the large-scale structure of the Universe.
