Il convento della Verna. Storia, architettura, arte francescana

Il Santuario de La Verna celebre per essere il luogo in cui nel 1224 San Francesco d’Assisi ricevette le stimmate, offre una combinazione unica di storia, architettura, arte e bellezza naturale. Il volume ripercorre lo sviluppo degli edifici del convento, muovendosi tra aspetti storici, artistici, architettonici e iconografici, e restituendo l’immenso fascino di una struttura secolare densa di testimonianze dell’epoca francescana. Si indagano il ricco campo di riferimenti iconografici, a partire dalle opere di Giotto, che documentano e accompagnano lo sviluppo degli edifici sacri a partire dal Duecento. La ricca documentazione storica archivistica si intreccia quindi con le testimonianze materiali che si riscontrano sugli edifici del complesso che vengono presi in esame singolarmente. L'atlante dei disegni riporta quindi il ricco apparato delle restituzioni dei rilievi digitali realizzati dal gruppo di ricerca. / The Sanctuary of La Verna, famous for being the place where St. Francis of Assisi received the stigmata in 1224, offers a unique combination of history, architecture, art and natural beauty. The volume traces the development of the buildings of the convent, moving among historical, artistic, architectural and iconographic aspects, and restoring the immense charm of a centuries-old structure dense with evidence of the Franciscan era. The rich field of iconographic references, starting with the works of Giotto, that document and accompany the development of sacred buildings from the 13th century onward are investigated. The rich archival historical documentation is then interwoven with the material evidence found on the buildings of the complex that are examined individually. The atlas of drawings reports the rich apparatus of the restitutions of the digital surveys made by the research team.
