Religione e demografia. Come la fede influenza i comportamenti delle popolazioni

Il ricorso al Divino per spiegare la vita e la morte è antico come l’Homo sapiens e rappresenta l’insieme di credenze, tradizioni e rituali che da sempre hanno accompagnato l’evolversi delle popolazioni e le teorie per cui è nata la religione. Una teoria dice che fosse un modo per spiegare i fenomeni naturali, mentre un’altra è che la religione rappresenta una forza morale per la coesione all’interno della società. The use of the Divine to explain life and death is as old as Homo sapiens and represents the set of beliefs, traditions and rituals that have always accompanied the evolution of populations and the theories for which religion was born. One theory says that it was a way to explain natural phenomena, while another is that religion represents a moral force for cohesion within society. This book first deals with the history of religions and their spread and influence in different countries, in particular on the condition of women. Together with the demographic characteristics and behaviors influenced by religions, examples of monotheistic and polytheistic countries will be brought, then talking about the tendency towards atheism and agnosticism that is spreading in Western societies. The focus on some emblematic countries will help to understand the relationship between faith and demography. A look to the future will conclude the discussion. In questo libro si tratta dapprima la storia delle religioni e la loro diffusione e l’influenza nei diversi paesi, in particolare sulla condizione femminile. Assieme alle caratteristiche e ai comportamenti demografici influenzati dalle religioni, si porteranno esempi di paesi monoteisti e politeisti, parlando poi della tendenza all’ateismo e all’agnosticismo che si va diffondendo nelle società occidentali. Il focus su alcuni paesi emblematici aiuterà a capire le relazioni fra fede e demografia. Concluderà la trattazione uno sguardo al futuro.
