Leukemoid-like eosinophilia in a splenectomised traveler returning from Brazil

The described case involves two brothers who traveled together to Brazil and probably acquired the same helminthic infection. Case 1 presented with a more prominent (leukemoid-like) eosinophilia, probably attributable to his history of splenectomy. Literature suggests that splenectomised patients may have impaired control of eosinophilic responses, potentially worsened by acute infections.
