Anti-predator behaviour of reared birds is a critical issue in reintroduction projects. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of exposure to a flying live raptor of farm-bred grey partridge (Perdix perdix) chicks. We assessed the effect on behaviour 3 months later with a dummy raptor. Results showed the effectiveness of the treatment in increasing the duration of defensive behaviour in the experimental group compared to controls, with more suitable anti-raptor responses. The increased defensive behaviour to predators in farmed animals after early exposure to a predator is likely to increase their survival after release into the wild.
