This paper presents, in a unified framework, known and new results connecting Finsler--Einstein geometry on a holomorphic vector bundle E of rank ≥2, the horizontal J-geometry on P(E), and slope stability. Although expository in its foundational sections, the paper contains several new quantitative and adiabatic results.
