Ez a könyv tudományos igényű történelmi esszé, egyben társadalmi vitairat. Abból a meggyőződésből született, hogy Magyarország a XIX. század óta globális folyamatok laboratóriumként szolgál. Csak a történelmi fejlődésünk elemzése segít eligazodni annak megértésében, hogy Orbán Viktor miniszterelnök miért fordult el a mérsékelt, eurokonform konzervativizmustól a szélsőséges Nyugat-ellenesség irányába, melynek eredménye a hatodik magyar tekintélyelvű rendszer kiépülése egy röpke évszázad alatt. The concept emerged from the conviction that Hungary has functioned as a laboratory for global processes since the 19th century. A thorough examination of Hungary's historical progression is imperative to comprehend the rationale behind Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's shift in ideological stance, from moderate, Euro-conformist conservatism to extreme anti-Westernism, culminating in the establishment of Hungary's sixth authoritarian regime in less than a century. It is imperative to reflect on a Central European trajectory characterised by the intricate interweaving of illusions, disappointments, absurd scenes, tragic misunderstandings, and unforgivable sins. This volume constitutes an endeavour to situate the pivotal junctures and unresolved issues of Hungarian history within a global framework, employing an accessible, self-critical, yet affectionate approach with the objective of enhancement.
