This contribution offers an overview of LGBTQ+ literature within the contemporary Italian landscape. Starting from an analysis of the evolving terminology and acronyms (from LGBTQ to LGBTQQIA+), the essay addresses the challenges of tracing a cohesive "homosexual tradition" in Italy, often characterized by fragmentation and silence. The author explores the dual nature of the "LGBTQ literature" label, discussing its role as both a tool for visibility and a potential limitation. By examining the intersection of literary production, gender identity, and civil rights activism, the study highlights how queer narratives have emerged to challenge the canon and give voice to marginalized subjectivities, reflecting on the historical and social implications of these writings.

Abstract
This contribution offers an overview of LGBTQ+ literature within the contemporary Italian landscape. Starting from an analysis of the evolving terminology and acronyms (from LGBTQ to LGBTQQIA+), the essay addresses the challenges of tracing a cohesive "homosexual tradition" in Italy, often characterized by fragmentation and silence. The author explores the dual nature of the "LGBTQ literature" label, discussing its role as both a tool for visibility and a potential limitation. By examining the intersection of literary production, gender identity, and civil rights activism, the study highlights how queer narratives have emerged to challenge the canon and give voice to marginalized subjectivities, reflecting on the historical and social implications of these writings.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
