Issues in understanding firm growth

Drawing on diverse theoretical perspectives on firm change, we derive a set of explanatory variables and examine their interrelationships, with the aim of synthesizing a conceptual “recipe” for growth grounded in these frameworks. We provide a detailed analysis of the key variables identified within each theoretical approach and further extend the discussion by considering the potential of an idiosyncratic perspective on firm growth. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings and offer concluding remarks.
