This doctoral thesis investigates the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying language impairment in primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and evaluates neuromodulatory interventions through a multimodal approach combining Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with Electroencephalography (TMS–EEG), neuroimaging, and neuromodulation. It comprises a first study on cortical reactivity alterations in nonfluent variant PPA, a second ongoing study assessing the effects of repetitive TMS combined with speech and language therapy on language performance and cortical dynamics, and a third study in healthy subjects characterizing the neurophysiological properties of high-order brain regions using TMS–EEG, with implications for individualized neuromodulatory strategies.
