Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale: cenni storici

The chapter “The Department of Industrial Engineering: Historical Notes” traces the origins and development of the DIEF at the University of Florence, from its roots in the preparatory two-year program established after the Gentile Reform to the founding of the Faculty of Engineering in 1970 and the later reorganization into the Departments of Mechanical and Industrial Technologies and Energy Engineering. Through legislative changes and close ties with the local industrial sector, the narrative leads to the establishment of DIEF in 2013, bringing together mechanical and energy expertise and strongly oriented toward research, innovation, and technology transfer.
