Improving animal welfare in Italian Holstein and Jersey cattle through selection for longevity

This PhD project, carried out in an industrial framework in collaboration with ANAFIBJ, investigates breeding and selection strategies for functional longevity in Italian Holstein and Jersey dairy cattle. By integrating longevity metrics with key welfare indicators, the project aims to optimize genetic evaluation models, ensuring both productive sustainability and enhanced cow health and well-being.
