The paper presents some theoretical and experimental studies on the behaviour of a mono-axial accelerometer. This type of sensor is used, together with other types of sensors, in the odometric module, a part of the on board unit of the Automatic Train Protection systems. The sensor is located on the head vehicle body in order to estimate its longitudinal acceleration, that is used, with other type of sensors, to calculate the actual train speed and its position on the line. The reliability of the estimation of train position and speed is very important for the safety and the efficiency of the control system.

Abstract
The paper presents some theoretical and experimental studies on the behaviour of a mono-axial accelerometer. This type of sensor is used, together with other types of sensors, in the odometric module, a part of the on board unit of the Automatic Train Protection systems. The sensor is located on the head vehicle body in order to estimate its longitudinal acceleration, that is used, with other type of sensors, to calculate the actual train speed and its position on the line. The reliability of the estimation of train position and speed is very important for the safety and the efficiency of the control system.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
