In this paper some theoretical considerations regarding the modelling of a rigid rotor supported by magnetic bearings are presented and discussed. The final purpose is a deepen analysis on the possibility of realisation and of the effectiveness of an innovative test rig to be used for the experimental identification of the linearised coefficients of the fluid seals. Through the analysis of the results of the numerous numerical simulations performed, some conclusions may be drawn on the possibility and on the accuracy of the identification of the aforementioned seal coefficients.

Abstract
