In the paper some suboptimum adaptive polarisation techniques for the cancellation of partially polarised disturbances are analysed. They are based on suitable use of the estimates of the crosscorrelation between the dual-polarisation received signals. The performances of these techniques are evaluated and compared with that of the optimum setting of polarisation on reception. It is shown that the performances of the suboptimum techniques are affected by a quite limited cancellation loss, and related to the antenna polarisation basis used on reception. Some implementation aspects of these techniques are also discussed.

Abstract

In the paper some suboptimum adaptive polarisation techniques for the cancellation of partially polarised disturbances are analysed. They are based on suitable use of the estimates of the crosscorrelation between the dual-polarisation received signals. The performances of these techniques are evaluated and compared with that of the optimum setting of polarisation on reception. It is shown that the performances of the suboptimum techniques are affected by a quite limited cancellation loss, and related to the antenna polarisation basis used on reception. Some implementation aspects of these techniques are also discussed.
