Abstract
The paper presents first results of an ongoing research devoted to the investigation of the structural performance of reinforced glass beams. These beams appear to be a safer solution to the demand of architects for transparent buildings, domes and vaulted roofs and . The authors designed a new kind of reinforced glass beams, obtained using three-layer laminated glass panels reinforced with FRP rebars. An original “U” shape was designed for the housing channel of bars, in order to bond them to glass on three sides. Common structural resins were chosen as adhesives. The bond capabilities between resin and glass were investigated in detail through adhesion tests and pull-out tests.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
