The book offers an integrated clinical approach addressed to couples in difficulty that involves the relational - systemic model, the gestalt clinical approach and cognitive psychology. In this approach attention to the relational marital system is combined with the enhancement of each individual who compose it, with the personal history and an understanding of the evolutionary path of life together. In the clinical psychological practice ways of working based on the awareness are integrated with work on interpersonal communication and the narrative mode of processing experience. The various aspects of the clinical approach are analyzed through a reflection on the nature of the couple relationship and exemplified by revisiting some fragments of case histories and psychotherapy sessions.
