Low environmental impact energy conversion cycles and Life Cycle Assessment. In particular three possibilities of power plants with low emission of carbon dioxide were studied (a semi-closed gas turbine cycle with CO2 chemical absorption from the exhausts; an IGCC with coal gasification and CO2 removal from syngas; and a CO2 working fluid cycle). The aim of the PhD project was the comparison of the three possibilities on the basis of Life Cycle Assessment and Exergetic Life Cycle Assessment. Part of the PhD research was conducted at the Twente University (NL) in 1998.
