Work and Fertility. Employment and Reproductive Careers among Italian Couples

The objective of this doctoral thesis is threefold: first, a quantitative systematization of the existing literature on the interrelation between women’s work and fertility; second, a re-conceptualization of the theoretical framework on the relationship between women’s labour market participation and fertility, adding the role of the male’s partner both in fertility and employment decision; third, on the to study the interrelationship between employment and family life in the Italian context, following theoretical and methodological inclinations derived so far along the thesis.
