Emanuele Casamassima: un bibliotecario militante

Emanuele Casamassima (Rome 1916 - Florence 1988) was the director of the National Central Library of Florence (BNCF) from 1965 to 1970, then professor of paleography at the University of Trieste and Florence; he was the director of the institute during the flood Arno on November 4, 1966; with the young 'mud angels', he saved the heritage of BNCF, the most important library in Italy. The volume of Tiziana Stagi reconstructs for the first time in full, with a broad array of unpublished sources, identified for the first time, the formation and the paths of a great librarian and scholar of the Twentieth century, and his battle in and for libraries: a battle culture. Emanuele Casamassima (Roma 1916 - Firenze 1988) è stato il direttore della Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Firenze (BNCF) dal 1965 al 1970, poi professore di paleografia nelle Università di Trieste e di Firenze; diresse l’istituto durante l'alluvione dell’Arno del 4 novembre 1966; è stato il protagonista, insieme ai giovani 'angeli del fango', del salvataggio del patrimonio della BNCF, la biblioteca più importante d’Italia.
