Prototypes of silos have been designed and built at the DEISTAF. The silos, with a capacity of 1 m3 and 2 m3, have been planned for use in Tanzania by individual farmers operating in the inland areas of the Country. In particular this intervention has been designed to support the activities of a Mission, which operates at the Hospital of St. Gaspar in Itigi, Singida. The silos can be made directly by the user, except for some details that may be built in the workshop of the Mission. Materials and equipment normally available on site have been considered in the design, e.g. corrugated galvanized steel sheet, used by the local population as cover for houses.
