The book shows evolving issues on waterfront regeneration that have a strong impact on Twelve-first Century society. The findings are reassessed either around riverfronts, canalfronts and seafronts in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The two Scottish cities represent currently the most interesting challenges being faced. The book shows the strategies and policies on masterplanning and design the Waterfront City and its relationship to morphology of urban block and mixed use development. At the same time can encourage ideas on research that can shape new conditions for future waterfront change. Consequently, research and practice results seek to develop a good attitude on recognising the “value of waterfront regeneration”. Certainly the book tries to underline these themes as well to introduce at the local approach preservation concept of cultural heritage. This book also underlines some viewpoints on how cultural heritage has to be faced properly within regeneration projects and how its preservation is essential to bring back good memory of history on the sites. On a conceptual levels industrial landscapes are of fundamental tangible and cultural value but in terms of intangible value, urban regeneration can create new “characterisation” areas of vital urban housing market. This books is diving into three parts dealing on strategic planning approach and methodology of masterplanning along Scottish waterfronts.
