A global analysis of the 1755 and 1980 post-quake actions is presented, summarizing the main strategies deployed to cope with the consequences of the earthquakes and needs of the affected communities, and lessons are drawn from what was and was not successful. The work is entirely based in a literature review and presents a general approach to the consequences of, needs during, and solutions proffered after the 1755 and 1980 earthquakes.
