In this theoretical framework we describe the results of a qualitative analysis conducted on 100 letters sent by relatives of patients who died in two Florentine hospices. The results tell us about a transformation in progress in which palliative cares are an opportunity to deal with the separation from the dying person with greater awareness and acceptance.
