How many clusters of tourism companies are there in Europe and where are they located? Although it seems an elementary question, so far there is not any geography of tourism clusters in Europe. The aim of this chapter is to provide basic stylised facts about the spatial patterns of clustering of tourism firms in Europe. The research proposes a novel methodology which minimises statistical information requirements and allows to identify the number and spatial boundaries of tourist clusters. The methodology is based on a geostatistical algorithm and firm-based micro-data. The procedure is applied to a continuous space of 15 European countries and a basic chain of tourism activities in 2013. The results underline that tourist firms are highly clustered stretching from the southern to the northern European countries.

Abstract
The results underline that tourist firms are highly clustered stretching from the southern to the northern European countries.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
