In this work, the authors investigate innovative structural topology optimization techniques with the aim of substantially improving the static and modal performances of turbomachinery components in terms of weights, stress levels, modal frequencies and modal shapes. The results are quite encouraging and innovative design concepts are obtained for the considered components.
