In this PhD work, a sector of the “collisional” complex of Sicily was investigated performing geochemical and isotopic measurements of waters and natural gases along a NE-SW transect running from Peloritani Mts. to Sciacca Plain in order to: i) increase the knowledge on the origin of these fluids (thermal waters, gas vents and mud volcanoes); ii) define the origin and evolution of the emerging fluids based on major, minor and trace elements, dissolved and free gas contents, δ13C–CO2 and 3He/4He isotopic signatures; iii) understand the relationship between fluids and geological-tectonic setting of the study area and iv) propose conceptual models targeting the circulation paths and the main water-gas-rock interaction processes.
