The first aim of this contribution is to analyze the features that have motivated Chinese outbound investments in the European Union. The paper outlines also the policies adopted by the European institutions and its member states to encourage the increase of the Chinese FDI without harming the internal European market, and consequently phase out all concerns that are afflicting the European public opinion. The second purpose is more focused on Poland. The paper offers an updated vision of Chinese FDI in this country, by outlining the specific trends of the general strategy in this country. With this purpose, the analysis offers a double-sided perspective of the two partners. From the Chinese perspective, the motivation and pattern of the Chinese investors depends on an investment evaluation taking into consideration the potentiality of the host country to invest in both for Chinese export strategies and to acquire specific technologies. From the Polish point of view, the paper put into evidence how national authorities develop a policy to encourage Chinese FDI. Finally, it offers some provisional conclusions about the impact of this strategy from both, the Chinese and the Polish perspectives.
