In my article I examine the concept of periodicity with particular reference to how the concept was construed by news publishers and writers and what periodicity meant for the readers’ understanding and reception of news in 17th-century England. I focus on the period from 1622 (the beginnings of periodical print news and the serialised press) to 1665 (the founding of the London Gazette that marked the demise of weekly serialised news pamphlets).

Abstract
In my article I examine the concept of periodicity with particular reference to how the concept was construed by news publishers and writers and what periodicity meant for the readers’ understanding and reception of news in 17th-century England. I focus on the period from 1622 (the beginnings of periodical print news and the serialised press) to 1665 (the founding of the London Gazette that marked the demise of weekly serialised news pamphlets).File in questo prodotto:
