This paper analyzes the importance that the certification of achievements has today within the educational practice of schools. Considering the theoretical perspective of the authentic assessment, it is investigated to what extent the dialogue between educational research and school practice can improve teaching with a view to successful learning, paying particular attention to how individual and citizenship competences can be developed and certified in the first cycle of schooling. The paper presents the results of a research-training program realized with a sample of schools, which led to the construction and application of a methodological model for the certification of achievements called VA.R.C.CO.

Abstract
