Bram Stoker’s note-taking procedures for Dracula reveal various instances of inaccuracy and incoherence, a preference for unreliable sources, and a tendency towards indeterminacy, hybridity, and destabilization. Looking at Stoker’s note-taking methods increases our awareness of the intertextual complexity of Dracula and reveal that re-presentations and revisions of received knowledge are interwoven in the fabric of the novel more deeply than commonly assumed.

Abstract

Bram Stoker’s note-taking procedures for Dracula reveal various instances of inaccuracy and incoherence, a preference for unreliable sources, and a tendency towards indeterminacy, hybridity, and destabilization. Looking at Stoker’s note-taking methods increases our awareness of the intertextual complexity of Dracula and reveal that re-presentations and revisions of received knowledge are interwoven in the fabric of the novel more deeply than commonly assumed.
