John his book vs. John's book: Possession marking in English

The paper analyses the expression of genitival relationships in three languages (English, German and Dutch) diachronically, with special attention to the emergence of the construction with the resumptive pronoun, e.g. John his bike, Jan z'n fit, Johannes sein Fahrrad, and the influence of linguistically prestigious models (such as Latin) in the processes of standardization. Nell'articolo si analizzano le costruzioni che codificano le relazioni genitivali in tre lingue (inglee, tedesco e nederlandese) in una prospettiva diacronica, in particolare la costruzione analitica con il pronome possessivo, cioè John his bike, Jan z'n fit, Johannes sein Fahrrad, e l'influenza esercitata dai modelli linguistici ritenuti prestigiosi come il latino nei processi di standardizzazione.
