Some Reflections on Early Semitic in the Light of the Ebla Documentation

La scoperta degli Archivi di Ebla ha rivelato una lingua semitica nuova per la Siria Nord Occidentale della metà del III millennio a. C. Oggi è possibile definire correttamente la posizione dell'Eblaita all'interno del Semitico Arcaico. Gli Archivi permettono anche di delineare un quadro linguistico radicalmente nuovo per la regione Siro-Mesopotamica in questa importantissima fase storica. The discovery of the Ebla Archives revealed a new Semitic language for the mid 3rd millennium North-Western Syria. Today it is possible to adequately define the position of Eblaite within Early Semitic. The Archives also allow us to outline a radically new broad definition of the linguistic picture of the Syro-Mesopotamian region for this important phase.
