The philosophical stance is by its very nature a generator of metaphors. Western philosophy of knowledge has always used light as a source of metaphors. That is, a source which in turn produces constitutive metaphors for thought, such as evidence, clarity, distinctness, perspective, determination. The metaphor of light reveals a deeply pervasive philosophical stance, which we shall here define as spatial in kind. Challenging such a stance, we shall probe the possibilities and consequences of a temporal kind of paradigm, which, by placing duration and not distance at the center of its reflections, will bring out the reasons for opacity, or even of blindness, in philosophy.

Abstract
The philosophical stance is by its very nature a generator of metaphors. Western philosophy of knowledge has always used light as a source of metaphors. That is, a source which in turn produces constitutive metaphors for thought, such as evidence, clarity, distinctness, perspective, determination. The metaphor of light reveals a deeply pervasive philosophical stance, which we shall here define as spatial in kind. Challenging such a stance, we shall probe the possibilities and consequences of a temporal kind of paradigm, which, by placing duration and not distance at the center of its reflections, will bring out the reasons for opacity, or even of blindness, in philosophy.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
