The research carried out by the University of Florence in Monte Giovi has discovered a multi-stratified Etruscan settlement. After a first phase characterized by the presence of a place of worship, probably connected with divination practices and the study of atmospheric phenomena such as lightning, the settlement was destroyed at the end of the 5th century BC, and subsequentlyre-occuped in the second half of the 4th century BC; it was definitively abandoned at the beginning of the 3rd century BC, at the end of defensive function of Etruscan Fiesole. During our researches, some of the terracotta medallions created by Giovanni Francesco Tinti, an eccentric man lived in the late 16th century. Born in San Miniato, poet, astronomer, probably engraver and architect, then friar, hermit and wandering, Giovanni Francesco Tinti left his medals in various places in Tuscany, in memory of his passage, in an attempt to eternate his name.
