Preventive conservation is a combination of actions directed to reduce the risk of degradation of the exposed object and to identify optimal environmental conditions to show it in the safest way. It implies both “passive” techniques, aimed to minimize the damage to the object from the exhibition environment, and environmental monitoring and management directed to minimize variations of indoor environmental parameters and to reduce impacts from outdoor (visitors crowding, irregular HVAC operation, etc.). The aim of this work is to analyze the microclimate in two environments in which goods of historical value are preserved. Environmental experimental monitoring analysis pointed out some relevant problems, like the presence of people that could negatively affect the indoor microclimate. In order to ensure the fruition of the good, it will be necessary to undertake all the actions to properly control the indoor environmental parameters to bring them back to the optimal range for the preservation of the good, thus limiting the influences of the external climate and internal alterations due to the presence of visitors, thanks also to the installation of suitable HVAC systems.

Abstract
