History and crucial aspects of strengthening the arch system

The book is about the discovery, investigations and consolidation works on a unique ancient monument in North Afghanistan (Balkh, VIII century A.D.) at the beginning of Islamic architecture in Central Asia. The old building, made by earth and bricks, was near to collapse, bacause of its exposition to earthquakes. The chapter deals with the investigations on materials and structure and shows the intervention reinforcing phases.
