The article , starting from an analysis of the current unsustainable patterns of settlements development -either in the global north and in the South of the world- introducse and appraises the bioregional paradigm as suitable approach in reframing development policies, planning practices and settlement design apporach. That mainly according with the recovery of a co-evolutionary model of relationship between regional eco-sistem endowements, territorial Heritage, social capital and goals of economic development and settlement patterns design.
