L’impatto territoriale del turismo nelle aree rurali. Il caso di studio della Toscana

RIASSUNTO: Il turismo rurale (TR) è cresciuto in molte regioni in tutto il mondo ed è oggi un motore stabile di sviluppo. In questo articolo si vuole problematizzare su come la crescita di TR debba essere totalmente divergente dalle dinamiche che sottendono lo sviluppo del turismo costiero/balneare, il quale tende a creare villaggi turistici e resorts artificiali senza identità che modificano in maniera rilevante e irreversibile il paesaggio circostante. Costruire nuovi edifici per aumentare le strutture ricettive nelle zone rurali potrebbe avere un duplice effetto negativo: compromettere la bellezza del paesaggio (risorsa territoriale di base), e sviluppare un turismo rurale di massa. In tale ottica si propone inoltre un monitoraggio dell’impatto dell’TR sull’uso del suolo, analizzando in maniera diacronica lo sviluppo di nuove aree edificate in aree rurali mediante metodologia GIS. Il lavoro qui presentato è applicato al solo caso della Toscana. SUMMARY: The impact of rural tourism on land use change in rural areas. The case study of Tuscany. Rural tourism (RT) has grown in many regions all over the world and is now a stable factor fuelling rural development. In this case, we want to problematize that RT development should be completely divergent from the dynamics at the base of coast toursim, because it very often results in creating artificial resorts and villages which impact surrounding landscapes in relevant and irreversible ways. Building new houses to increase accommodation facilities in rural areas could have a double negative effect: compromising the beauty of the landscape (basic territorial resource), and developing mass rural tourism. With this in mind, we would like to propose a monitoring of the impact of RT on land use, it is therefore proposed to analyze the development of new building areas in the countryside using a GIS methodology. The work presented here is applied only to the case of Tuscany.
