De la critica democraţiei la denunţarea imigraţiei, evoluţiile populismului contemporan. O perspectivă italiană

The literature consensually acknowledges the relevance of immigration for the populist family. Across time and space, populist parties have succeeded in challenging the traditional topos of the right in terms of immigration and integration, while simultaneously illustrating their ability to attract traditional blue-collars and unemployed votes from the left side. In this context, our analysis addresses a straightforward research question: how do Italian populist parties relate to immigration in the Italian public discourse in the post 2015 period? The analysis takes into account three main dimensions: the relation between the popular rule and the liberal features of the democratic regime, the position regarding the material and immaterial patrimony and, last but not least, the emotional aspects of the popular mobilization
