Carlo Ginzburg and the Historian’s Craft: Questions and Remarks.

Stimulated by Carlo Ginzburg’s paper Some Queries Addressed to Myself, Giovanni Tarantino shares some brief considerations on Ginzburg’s extraordinarily original and fertile career of studies, research and writings. In characterising this rigorous historian, Tarantino highlights the careful crafting of his narrative, his concerns with readership and with involving readers in all phases of his research, and his recommendations on methodology and the historian’s trade, and concludes with a reflection on Ginzburg’s work in relation to the history of emotions and an appeal to return to the relationship between nature and culture or between structure and history.
